the partners for literacy + math programs
The Partners for Literacy and Math Programs pair community volunteers with K-12th grade students who are performing significantly below grade level in their public schools. Programs are available during school hours, after school, and in the evening.
gift of literacy + gift of math programs
These early intervention after school programs match 2nd graders one-to-one with volunteers who follow specific lesson plans and receive supervision and support from the JCC's onsite reading and math specialists. Most of the students chosen for the program are English Language Learners whose families speak another language at home and need additional individual support to acquire the basic skills necessary to succeed in school.
graduate programs in literacy + math
Students who have completed our gift of literacy and gift of math programs continue participating in our afterschool program during grades 3-5 to work one-on-one with JCC tutors who, with the guidance and support of the JCC’s onsite reading and math specialists, help the students with reading comprehension, writing skills, math word problems, multiplication/division facts and homework.
