As wildfires continue moving across Sonoma and Napa Counties, The Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, The Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties has been in close contact, working with their partners in the affected regions to assess and begin to meet the urgent and emerging needs. In the wake of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, and the Mexico earthquake, many residents in the U.S., Caribbean, and Mexico are without basic services such as electricity and water, and have been displaced from their homes. All are facing a long return to normalcy following the disasters. The immediate needs and required resources for long-term rebuilding and recovery are significant.

JCC Puerto Rico is serving as a collection/community resource site and raising funds accordingly to help those most in need. Click 'Donate' at the top of the page.

New York State efforts. Across the state, New Yorkers are encouraged to drop off goods for donation at the drop-off locations linked here. Locations are only accepting the following items for donation: batteries, flashlights, portable lanterns, diapers, baby wipes, cases of water and feminine hygiene products. All items must be unopened and in their original packaging.

AFYA has request lists for medical supplies coming in from Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra, St Thomas and the British Virgin Islands, and is partnering with its long time supporter, Greater NY Hospital Association and the Governor’s Office, to get supply filled planes in the air in order to make change happen fast.

The Evelyn Rubenstein JCC of Houston has put out the following requests:

  • Purchase e-gift cards and have them emailed to They recommend purchasing from stores such as Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Lowes, The Home Depot, Randall’s, HEB, Visa, and Mastercard.
  • Support their Hurricane Relief Fund by making a donation.

Jewish Federations of North America: support their emergency relief fund here.

Hebrew Free Loan Society is disbursing interest-free loans to aid those impacted by Hurricane Harvey as they begin to rebuild. Because the loans will be repaid, your donation will be used repeatedly to provide relief.
