cancer fittness A partnership of Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan and Breastlink New York. This innovative program is designed to share the latest in health and wellness programs, while also bringing complementary care to those living with breast cancer. Based on scientific findings about the importance of a plant-based diet and regular exercise for healing, our robust program includes a range of classes, lectures and events. Topics include nutrition, massage, yoga and aerobics which have been shown to help you deal with the side effects of cancer and boost healing.

Chair Massage for the Oncology Client

Have you ever volunteered or been booked for a chair massage event, then faced a client whom you're unsure what to do with? Even with a massage of just a few minutes, there can be concerns when it comes to a client's medical history. For those  with cancer, chair massage can be very relaxing as long as the therapist is aware of precautions. This four-hour class will cover precautions for working with clients with a history of cancer and guidelines for chair massage sessions. After this class, you can participate in the Shirley Kohn Annual Spa Day for Women Living with Breast or Ovarian Cancer at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan or just earn four CEUs. The cost of the class is $75, or free for those who volunteer for the Spa Day event.  Regardless you'll earn some CEUs and gain valuable hands-on skills.
