Thinking about switching to a plant-based diet, but not sure where to start? You've come to the right place. The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan and Plant Powered Manhattan have partnered to create a 21-day "Whole Food, Plant-Based Jump Start Program" to help you make the change easy and enjoyable. Weâve brought together medical and culinary experts to answer questions, provide helpful advice, and share the techniques you need to get started. During this health immersion program, we will support you in adopting a healthy, plant-based diet that emphasizes whole foods.
Scientific research suggests that many chronic diseases can be controlled, reduced, or even reversed by moving to a whole-food, plant-based diet. Specifically, the landmark book The China Study cites research showing that a plant-based diet can reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, certain types of cancer, and other major illnesses. Many people who choose this diet also report fitness payoffs, more energy, reduced inflammation, and better health outcomes overall including more consistent weight management.. Those on plant-based diets often have a lighter environmental footprint, because a plant-based diet of whole foods places less stress on the environment.
