Boost! - 5-17 Years
Boost! provides highly-structured programming for children with autism spectrum disorder. Each class is comprised of a series of activities designed to develop critical social and day-to-day living skills, and provide remediation in common skill deficits. Structured classes offer sequenced activities and visual support materials to teach independent living, leisure and recreational skills, self-care, and communication skills that can lead to greater self-sufficiency. Typical peers serve as "buddies," facilitating participation and serving as same-age models. Class activities are designed to be fun for the children, and the high level of support and carefully designed structure ensures success. Interested families should contact Melissa Lader at mlader@jccmanhattan.org. (more)LEARN MORE

Boost! 5-14 Years
Boost! is small, activity-based afterschool group for children on the autism spectrum or with other social, learning and communication differences. There is a high instructor to student ratio and peer "buddies" to facilitate age appropriate social interactions. Boost! provides a positive and fun environment for your children to interact with peers and work on developing friendship skills. Through typical after-school activities (i.e., board games, arts and and crafts, cooking, music and movement), children are coached to initiate interactions with others, take turns, sustain conversation and learn about each other, as well as to employ self-regulation skills in a group setting. We aim to empower our participants to feel confident about their strengths and abilities and to see themselves as belonging to a social group. Interested families should contact Melissa Lader at mlader@jccmanhattan.org. The Boost! Program is supported by The Morris and Alma Schapiro Fund, The George and Frances Armour Foundation, and the continued support of The New York Collaborates for Autism. (more)LEARN MORE

Tech Kids Unlimited:
A Mini-Tech Workshop for Kids with Special Needs
7–14 Years
Tech Kids Unlimited is a technology program for kids who learn differently. Join us for a week of fun and learning as students work with a tech-teaching artist to create and develop a project using technology. High school students and an educator will also be on hand, creating a very high student-to-instructor ratio. Special attention will be paid to supporting each student’s individualized working style. No previous knowledge necessary—all that is required is a passion for technology. If you child has previously been in a TKU workshop, s/he will work on more advanced projects as all our workshops are highly individualized. For more information, please contact Beth Rosenberg at beth@techkidsunlimited.org before registering. (more)LEARN MORE
