NEW! Teens/Young Adults Special Needs Swim Class
This beginning swim class is for teens and young adults aged 15-29 with special needs. This class focuses on basic swimming skills including breathing technique and becoming comfortable in the water. We specialize in small class size and dedicated instructors. An intake form (available here) and phone interview with our swim office is required for class placement. Connections
As children enter their 20s and age out of the educational system, there is a need for social and recreational opportunities in a community setting. Connections at the JCC has been created to begin to fill that need. In September 2011, we launched a group of 8 dedicated young adults in their 20's and early 30's who expressed interest in a social program that compliments their part time vocational and voluntary experiences. Program Components:- Life Skills- Social Skills- Recreation- Community Criteria For Participation:- Ability to be travel trained between the JCC and home.- Must be in their 20's or early 30's.- Must be committed to at least 2 of the 3 program days(Tuesdays & Fridays, 12:30-3:30 pm, and 2 Saturday evenings per month).- Must express their own desire to be in the program.- Must function well as a group member.- Parents will have the opportunity to attend 2 annual parent nights. Interested in catching up with old friends and making new one over dinner? Spend an evening having dinner with Adaptations participants at a local restaurant. If there is a new restaurant you have wanted to check out, or a favorite you'd like to return to, let us know. If your idea is chosen, you will help plan the evening, and we will pay for your meal! Dine Out has a new format: 2 restaurants to choose from. You MUST RSVP to attend with group. Registration through the Box Office is mandatory. A maximum of 9 participants can attend at each location.
