Nadav Schirman (Israel, 2013, 101 min) Co-presented by Dror for the Wounded Foundation . (more)REGISTER

Legendary Israeli basketball coach Ralph Klein became a national hero when he made Maccabi Tel Aviv into European Champions in the late seventies. But he became a national traitor equally fast, when he then accepted the job of turning around the hopeless West German basketball team. Klein maintains that Germany—where he was born before the war—means nothing to him, and that training their national team is just another job on his path to NBA glory. But during his time in Germany, Ralph makes a surprising discovery about what happened to his own family in the 1940s, and he realizes that one cannot run away from one’s own past and demons forever. Dir. Eran Riklis (Israel/Germany/France, 2011, 107 min) Followed by a conversation with the director. Co-presented by Chofshi B'Manhattan and Dor Chadash-IAC. (more)REGISTER

Screening time TBD. Film is NOT screening at 8 am. A zany, dark comedic portrait of everyday life in a unit of female Israeli soldiers. The human resources office at a remote desert base serves as the setting for this cast of characters who bide their time pushing paper and battling in computer games, counting down the minutes until they can return to civilian life. Amidst their boredom and clashing personalities, issues of commitment—to friendship, love, and country—are handled with humor and sharp-edged wit. Dir. Talya Lavie (2014, Israel, 100 mins) (more)LEARN MORE
