Your safety always comes first for the Aquatics Department here at The JCC in Manhattan. The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has recommended that all outdoor and indoor swimming facilities should be vacated during electrical storms (thunder and lightning). Avoiding showers is also advisable.
Therefore, effective immediately, we are instituting a policy that requires all swimmers to evacuate the pool during such storms. Swimming may resume no sooner than twenty minutes after all visible signs of the storm have passed. We ask that you please cooperate with the Lifeguards and all Aquatics staff regarding this matter, as they will continue to ensure your safety. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
All JCC swim instructors and full time staff are Certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructors.
