Ulpan is an Israeli method for teaching and improving all Hebrew language skills - speaking, comprehension, reading and writing. Ulpan classes at the JCC are taught by experienced teachers who are native Hebrew speakers. You'll find small, interactive day and evening classes at all levels.
JCC members enjoy a 15% discount on all Ulpan classes.

what level is right for you

  • Beginner Aleph is for students with no prior knowledge of the Hebrew Alphabet.

  • Students at all other levels should contact the Ulpan director, Adina Marom. To make an appointment for placement call 646-505-4426 or email amarom@jccmanhattan.org or click here to download a placement test.
  • Students continuing in the Ulpan program should speak to their current teacher about registration for the upcoming semester or call Ulpan director Adina Marom at 646-505-4426.
  • Our next ulpan season begins on September 14th.

refund policy

The JCC does not issue refunds for classes missed as a result of illness or other circumstances beyond our control. The following refund policy applies to Ulpan classes exclusively: To receive a 100% refund, a written request (this includes letter, fax, or email) must be received by the end of the second week of the student's enrollment in the class. To receive a 50% refund, written requests must be received by the end of the third week of a student's enrollment in the class. No refunds will be given after the third week of class. JCC membership fees are not refundable. Please allow three to four weeks for the processing of refund requests. To withdraw from a class or request a refund, you may contact Ulpan Director, Adina Marom, amarom@jccmanhattan.org.
