At the JCC in Manhattan, our goal is to provide families with engaging, open and broad-based learning experience for individuals with special needs. For over six years, our programs have focused on both children and young adults with varying needs by helping to bridge socialization, build communities and celebrate Jewish life. We are committed to serving the whole family - children, young adults, caregivers, parents, grandparents and siblings - with services and connective programming.
Initiatives include-
- Programs for school-aged children:
After-school, Sunday programs (Kulam), Jewish education, summer camp, and sibling workshops
- Educational Programs:
Lectures, workshops and films for family members and service providers
- Support Programs:
Groups for parents, grandparents, and siblings
- Assistive Technology (AT):
Partnership with Cognitech Cafe for Assistive Technology consultations
- Special Projects:
Special Needs school fair and special events
- Adaptations (ages 21 to 39):
A special program for young adults featuring social skill groups, life skills, Sunday outings, lounges, drama therapy, technology training and career development
